Bleh actually got hired by another human that spoke to her. She's leaving our office in 2 weeks.
I admit I'm a bit nonplussed about the whole thing, as I don't have to see her on a regular basis now anyway, so her leaving is just kinda anticlimactic for me.
I spent the better part of 7 years dealing with her bullshit. Life has been so much lighter since my lateral promotion, the news of her leaving is just icing on the cake.
So, barring any particularly egregious behavior I hear about Bleh in the next two weeks, this is my last post on this blog.
Many thanks to you, Gentle Readers. You allowed me a space to vent and voiced your sympathies/support.
End of an era.

She's leaving!

The Return of Bleh
She comes back to the office tomorrow after being on vacation all last week. Geez. Last week was so calm and peaceful. Really! It was a joy to go to the office. I actually got work done and didn't want to hit anyone in the face.
I don't know what to expect tomorrow, except loud and incessant retellings of vacation happenings. Joy. Guess the ol' earphones will be back on and the music turned up to drown her out.
Were I a wizard, I'd somehow do that mouth-sealing trick from Army 0f Darkness* on her. Alas, I am not.
*Am I even remembering that right?

The Winter Gloom Returns
My quiet respite is over. Bleh is back from her winter vay-kay. Joy. Apparently she took her daughter out of state for the holidays, and when they boarded a plane to return home the other day, the kid's peanut allergy flared up and they had to de-board and take a later flight. While I certainly am not mocking the kid's health problems, I have had to hear about them ALL morning.
Guess what, Bleh? We don't care.
Oh, AND the daughter is here in the office today. Why? Who the frak knows. It's Bleh's world, apparently; I just suffer in it.
IN OTHER NEWS: Bleh's doing that thing again where she just talks loudly to The Supervisor and expects that to suffice as "telling" me also. Um, if someone can't have the decency to actually face me when they're supposedly speaking to me, then I don't have to "listen," do I? That extra step of making Bleh repeat herself to me is annoying yes, but more annoying to her than me.
Ah, it's the little things, isn't it?

Post Holiday Lull
Things have been mostly quiet around here. Granted, I've been blocking out a lot of noise with my headphones, but Bleh has pretty much been sitting quietly at her desk. It's kinda weird, ya know? Sure, her horse laugh is still polluting the air, but I haven't had to sit through too many stories of her holiday travel.
So, this isn't a ranty post, but a post nonetheless. I'm sure she'll cock something up soon and of course I'll record it here, but until then, peace to you all.

Good news!
Bleh is taking two days off next week! Yay! I don't know if it's part of her 'vacation' time, but who cares? (Readers will remember she doesn't take leave time all year so she can spend 2 weeks with her annoying family in some cabin somewhere.) She's always working weird schedules so she doesn't have to use her leave time. Weird.
Oh, and I took the rest of next week off for myself, so no Bleh for 10 days starting Saturday! WOOO!

Sigh............................
Bleh was out yesterday --- yes, I was overjoyed! It was so quiet and peaceful in the office. Unfortunately, she came back today. 30 minutes late. Oh, and she's also made 8 personal calls.
Sigh. The Supervisor is still out of the country and won't be back until the first week of July. Sure, I could tell her all the crap Bleh's done while she's been gone, but it wouldn't help me now. Nor would the Supervisor do anything about it. Sup seems to be happy with the "work" Bleh is doing.
To answer a reader's question, no, Bleh doesn't make up the 15, 20, or 30 minutes she misses every morning. Not to my knowledge anyway.
Why do I stick around in this job with such a horrible mess of a colleague? Simple: the money is good and I actually like what I do. I just don't like Bleh. She's the "con" on my pros and cons list. She's the burr under the saddle.
Honestly, a lot of therapy and a little religion keep me from strangling her with her ill-fitting slacks. Most days I can tune her out, but some days.... some days she's lucky I'm a civilized creature.

A small break...
Bleh is out today. Seems she took her kid to the doctor today (five days after the doc asked her to come in).
The office is brighter and lighter when she's gone.

Where Have I Been?
Um, well, I've been working and I've reached a "happy zen place" regarding Bleh, so I'm sorry for the dearth of posts.
Please note she's still cackling, still wearing the ill-fitting wedgie'd pants, and has taken to hideous sweaters this week. As for the annoying details, I'll have to defer them until the next time I get a break and/or she does something egregious. Which probably won't be too long from now.
Thanks for your patience!

Yay! A Bounty!
Turns out Bleh will be out the rest of the week. Don't know why. Don't care. Hopefully she and the concerned commenter 2 posts down can both chillax. I know I will be!
Peace and quiet... sigh...
It's quiet today. Bleh is out. No phones ringing, no gurgling laugh, no conversations being butted into. It's really lovely.

SHEEEEEEE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAACK
And just like that: my peace and quiet is over. The pants have never been more ill-fitting, the gossipy chitchat has never been more annoying, and the coffee "breaks" have never been longer.
Presently, Bleh and a colleague are talking about their daughters' ballet classes. I just put on headphones and cranked it up, so I can't give you the gory details. A possible bright spot for me: I may be in line, perhaps, for an office. An office with a door. In 18 months.
Oh, the small goals we cling to...

Oh what a beautiful mornin'....
Oh, what a beautiful day! I got an absent colleague...everything's goin' my way... Yep, Bleh is out of the office today. All day long! I plan to savor every peaceful minute.

R-o-l-a-i-d-s spells relief.
Bleh is out of the office today. She's dropping off one of her spawn to ballet camp. Yes, the same ballet camp that required so very many special calls about shoes. Both she and The Husband went on this trip and apparently were going to get it on at the Ambassador Hotel to celebrate their anniversary* (I know, because she told everyone she would be doing this). Ahhh, twenty years of being the most annoying couple ever... it makes me a little misty. Not.
Despite having lunch-losing knowledge of their hotel room activities I am celebrating today! The office is deliciously silent: no whiny children are here, her cellphone and its eardrum-melting ring is 2 states away, and there is no horsey laugh punctuating the end of her every inane sentence. I'm gonna go now --- I want to enjoy what's left of this beautiful day.
*Note to self: never stay in any hotel by that name.

Water saves me
A leak occured last night, a small one, thankfully. The janitor set up a blower to dry the carpet. You might thing this noisy windy contraption sitting next to me would be a bad thing. NO! It's awesome! It completely drowns out Bleh, her son, and her cell phone conversations! Yay!
Who knew an industrial dryer would bring me a little peace of mind?
